Canadian Expeditionary Force

26th Battalion CEF

The officers and members of the 26th Battalion of the Second Canadian Expeditionary Force prior to embarking for Europe, Saint John, New Brunswick, 1915.

The C.E.F. was created by Canada especially for service overseas during the First World War.

Following their successes at Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele the Canadians were acknowledged by many, including their enemies, as being the most effective Allied force on the Western Front.
